Thanksgiving activities you can do before dinner

Thanksgiving is a busy holiday, especially with friends and family coming together to give thanks over a meal. Try shaking up the gratitude part of your gathering with these fun activities that everyone can do while they wait for dinner to cook.

Here are a few other ideas:

  1. Buy enough mini pumpkins so that everyone can write or draw on their pumpkin (see opposite) with permanent markers to share what they’re thankful for this year.
  2. Go for a walk in the woods, and have everyone gather a leaf, flower, rock, twig, or something else to add to a centrepiece. During the meal, each person can add their item to the table while sharing what they are grateful for.
  3. Make a collaborative toast. Go around the table having each person add a word.
  4. Have each person write a rhyme to read out loud about what they are grateful for—be it funny or serious—to share with the table.
