What you’re doing wrong with your cast iron pan

Keep your cast iron pan in good shape and looking good as new so you can enjoy it for many years. Check out some of our top tips:

When seasoning:

1) Use steel wool and water to remove any rust

2) Use an abrasive pad and water to remove any soap or scum

3) Dry completely with paper towel

4) Apply flax seed oil to the top, bottom, and handle of the pan

5) Wipe off all excess oil with paper towel

6) Heat pan in the oven (between 400-500°F) for one hour

7) Repeat, if needed

When cleaning:

  • Never use soap
  • Make sure your pan is completely dry before storing
