Cottage Pudding with Chocolate Sauce // Summer's Best, Episode: Summer's Bounty
IngredientsInstructions:
Cottage Pudding: 1 1/2 cups flour 3/4 cups sugar 2 tsp baking powder pinch salt 1/3 cup shortening 1/2 cup milk 1 egg 1 tsp vanillaChocolate Sauce: 1 cup sugar 4 tbsp cocoa 1 tbsp flour 1 cup milk, warmed in microwave for 30 seconds 2 tbsp butter, melted 1 tsp vanilla salt
Cottage Pudding:
1. In a bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients.
2. In a separate bowl, blend the egg with the milk, shortening and vanilla. Pour the wet mixture in to the dry ingredients. Stir together until dough forms.
3. Scrape into greased 8 x 8 pan. Bake for 25 minutes at 350ºF.
Chocolate Sauce:
1. In a bowl mix all of the dry ingredients. Stir in milk and cool for 2 minutes. Stir in vanilla and butter. Serves at least 8.
