The fine print
By entering the 2009 Green Cottager Awards, nominees agree to comply with the full awards rules and agree to the perpetual publication, reproduction, and/or other use of his/her name, likeness, cottage location, voice, statements about the awards, contest submission including description of his/her green achievement, written material, and supporting photographs, illustrations, and technical drawings, without further compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by Cottage Life in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast, or the Internet.
All judging criteria will be weighted equally. The submission with the highest score in each category will be entitled to a donation award. In the event of a tie, the submission with the highest score per category in inspirational value will be considered the winner. Odds of a submission being selected as a winner depends on the number and caliber of submissions per category. Limit of one award per person. Awards must be accepted as awarded. If the winner is a minor in his/her province, territory, or state of residence, such winner’s parent or legal guardian must accept the prize on his/her behalf.
No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected winners. This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws. Void where prohibited by law. The decisions of the contest judges with respect to all aspects of this contest are final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal.
Selected winners (or winner’s parent or legal guardian if a minor) will be required to sign and return a standard Declaration, Liability and Publicity Release, releasing Cottage Life, and Quarto Communications and their respective advertising and promotional agencies and the contest judges from any and all liability arising directly or indirectly from this contest, participation in contest related activities, the awarding of a prize and the use or misuse of any prize.
Cottage Life its advertising and promotion agencies and the contest judges are not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, postage-due, delayed, or illegible entries. Without limitation, Cottage Life, its advertising and promotion agencies, and the contest judges will not be liable for the failure of any entry to be received.
Cottage Life reserves the right to withdraw or amend this contest in any way, in the event of an error, technical problem, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Cottage Life that interferes with the proper conduct of this contest as contemplated by these Rules. Any attempt to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Cottage Life reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Cottage Life reserves the right to cancel or suspend this contest in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind without prior notice or obligation.
By entering this contest, each entrant expressly consents to Cottage Life its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing, and using the personal information submitted with his/her entry only for the purpose of administering the contest and in accordance with Cottage Life’s Privacy Policy found at cottagelife.com unless the entrant otherwise agrees.
Contest is open to legal residents of Canada and the U.S., except employees (and those with whom such employees are domiciled) or agents of the Sponsor or Quarto Communications, their respective advertising and promotion agencies, and the contest judges. Entrants 13 years of age or younger must have consent from their parent or legal guardian to enter this Contest. In the event it is discovered that you entered without consent from your parent or legal guardian, all entries will be void.
