Since this story appeared in 2007, we've been hearing from cottagers who wanted to share their own favourite bakeshops!

"There's the best butter tart in the world.... found in our beautiful town of Orillia, Ontario.  It's called Wilkies.  It's a tiny hole in the wall... I don't understand how they can produce such wonderful butter tarts and Chelsea buns in such a small space.  Walking by the shop is dangerous is you are watching your calories... the smell wafts out of the windows and the doors and drags you in."

"Mariposa Market in Orillia is right in the heart of cottage country.  Not only do they have fabulous baked goods, they also have a cafe with great soups, sandwiches, wraps and salads.  Mariposa Market makes theme birthday cakes and wonderful all occasion cakes.  Cookies by the dozen, tea biscuits, muffins, and breads are just some of the great products produced on the premises.
 
My favourite product from Mariposa Market is their Texas Donut.  They are bigger than a regular yeast donut with an absolutely wonderful chocolate icing and can easily be divided in four to share. "
