Haliburton Highlands Dream Quilt

The Haliburton Highlands Quilt Guild is developing a Highlands Heritage Dream Quilt to benefit Cottage Dreams.  This is a signature quilt that will display the names of individuals, businesses, organizations, and anyone having a connection to Haliburton County.   It will be a “snapshot” of Haliburton County 2007.  The first viewing of this quilt will be at the Haliburton Highlands Quilt Guild Quilt Show in Minden in July 2008 and then it is being donated to the Agnes Jamieson Gallery in Minden for posterity.
 
The cost for each name to be embroidered on the quilt is a minimum $15.00 for individuals and $25.00 for a business, which is being given in its entirety to Cottage Dreams Cancer Recovery Initiative, a registered charity based in Haliburton village.  Cheques to be made out to Cottage Dreams. Tax receipts are issued for donations of $20.00 or more.  You may list as many names as you wish in the album.
 
Cottage Dreams is a simple concept wherein cottage owners lend their cottage for a week to a cancer survivor who has just finished treatment, and their family.  It is a time for families to reconnect and enjoy a few carefree days together after a very trying time in their lives.  For many of the visitors this is the last holiday they will spend together. Several visitors are children who have been stricken by cancer. 
There will be an accompanying album containing identifying information about each name on the quilt so that the quilt will be fully documented.  This information should include (if you wish) your year and place of birth, schools attended, occupation, spouse name, children’s names, what brought you to Haliburton County or what is your connection to Haliburton County, and any other information you might wish to include.  An organization should include the founders, beginnings and  the aims and achievements.
