2007 Cottage Life Photo Contest Winners

It was hard to choose, but from thousands of entries, we present the 12 winners of our 18th annual photo contest.

GRAND PRIZE Best of Contest

CAITLIN’S WORLD

“It was a cool morning,” says Jane Starr, “so we didn’t go to the beach as we normally would.” Instead, after breakfast, she gave Caitlin, her three-year-old daughter, a bath in the old sink at her in-laws’ Georgian Bay cottage. “She’s usually difficult about having her picture taken, but here she didn’t know. I love how angelic she looks.”

JUDGES’ comments

One of those quiet cottage moments that happen all the time but few of us ever think to take a picture. We like Jane’s response to a rough setting (the old counters and sink) transformed by bright, soft light that picks up textures of screen and her child’s hair and face. And Caitlin’s doing her own thing and not mugging for the camera.
