The Tastes of Cottage Country

Continuing on our success from 2006, the Tastes of Cottage Country will be an important part of the 2007 Fall Cottage Life Show. Cottage country food artisans, growers, producers, and retailiers are invited to participate in this high-traffic feature area dedicated to retailing and sampling the best food and drink from across Ontario.

Cottagers are known for being excellent entertainers. In fact, surveys of our magazine readers indicate that cottagers entertain an average of 49 days per year with 1-9 guests per visit. As a cottage country food retailer or producer, you likely already benefit from this trend as your cottage customers share their life at the lake with friends and family.

The Tastes of Cottage Country is your opportunity to reconnect with cottagers in the low-season and bring to them their favourite foods that they just can't get in the city. Set up as a high-end marketplace expo, the Tastes of Cottage Country will be profiled as a “show within a show”. Show attendees will enjoy:

  • sampling fine foods and beverages from cottage country food and beverage artisans
  • opportunities to purchase food items that they typically only get up at the cottage
  • demos by celebrity guest chefs preparing regional cuisine using local ingredients
  • a cottage-themed food service area where show attendees will relax for a quick bite and enjoy fun entertainment.

The November dates fall after the peak of autumn colours and warm weather, ensuring that more cottagers will be in the city rather than up at the lake.

Imagine the possibilities for your business:

  • generating revenue at a time of year that is typically a bit slower and just before the holiday rush
  • taking mail-orders for Christmas delivery of gifts and specialty items
  • retailing to more than 12,000 cottagers from all over Ontario
  • onsite selling of hostess gifts and presents for everyone's favourite cottager
  • advertising where to find your products at retailers in cottage country or in the city
  • marketing your farm, produce stand, market, or retail store location as a destination

We are committed to creating an authentic cottage country experience. As such we are only inviting authentic food artisans, farmers, and those who produce regional-specific items. Invited exhibits include bakeries, butcher shops, dairies and cheese factories, cranberry products, cottage country wineries and breweries, farmers and produce, preserves, jams, jellies, pickles, maple and honey products, coffee roasteries, delicatessens and signature food shops, as well as caterers, resorts, and associations.
