Cottage Q&A
QUESTIONThe Hwy. 400/69 route through cottage country has been under construction ever since we bought our cottage three years ago. Who do I call to find out when it's going to be done and whether there will be construction delays on a given weekend?
Beth Renton, Bayfield Inlet, Ont.
ANSWER
You can call the Ministry of Transportation for Ontario (MTO) at (416) 235-4686, or toll-free at 1-800-268-4686. MTO agents are available between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Alternatively, log onto the MTO website at www.mto.gov.on.ca, where road construction maps are on view. You can access a detailed area map of current construction sites, and click on a particular location to bring up the information. At this writing, the only construction on 400/69 was in the French River area, slated for completion in November 2004 - but since construction reports are updated weekly, all that could change.
