Decoupage

Decoupage can fill a short rainy day or a long weekend, depending on the complexity of your design. Use single images or combine images to create your own piece of art. With decoupage the possibilities are endless.

Materials:

  • old piece of furniture (such as a kitchen chair)
  • decoupage glue from an art store
  • old magazines or greeting cards
  • scissors or utility knife
  • varnish

For a simple exercise in decoupage, find an image that you like in an old magazine or greeting card, and cut it out using a utility knife.

Step #1

Prepare the surface you will be working on. Do all of your sanding, priming, and painting before applying the decoupage art.

Step #2:

Step #3:

When you are happy with your arrangement, apply a few coats of varnish to your finished piece.
