7 of Colin & Justin’s favourite cottages from around the world

Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan’s first Canadian cottage experience couldn’t have been more idyllic. “We stayed in a log cabin, there were bears outside, a moose on the road, and eagles flying overhead,” Colin recalls. In the 10 years since, the Scottish interior designers have owned several cottages, and they’ve also hosted Colin & Justin’s Cabin Pressure and Great Canadian Cottages on the Cottage Life channel.

Their new book, Escapology, features a collection of homes that represent their unbridled passion for retreats in nature. The book gives readers a peek into 24 escapes from around the world, with stunning photography and explanations on the property’s history, construction, design elements, and owners.

“We wanted to give people the indulgence of getting away,” says Justin. The book could not have been published at a better time. “More than ever, people are wanting a better place to relax. It’s the magic of transporting yourself away from the stresses of life.”

Escapology is available now ($39, Figure 1 Publishing). You can follow the pair on Twitter @colinjustin and on Instagram @colinandjustin.
